Tour de France: Discover Bordeaux (York)
Explore the home of fine wine!
Come and discover the wonderful wines of Bordeaux, a region steeped in viticultural history. We will taste our way through the key wines of both the Left Bank villages (Margaux, St Julien, Pauillac) and the Right Bank (St Emilion, Pomerol) and understand the key differences between the two. Our focus for the evening will be the great grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot- understanding how they combine to produce different styles of wine in Bordeaux.
But Bordeaux is more than these classic wines, we will unravel the stories behind some of the lesser know corners of Bordeaux (Graves, Fronsac) and show you how to enjoy the finest value for money by shopping around for great value Cru Bourgeois wines. We will also taste some of the beautiful white wines made in Bordeaux, from the well-known sweet wines of Sauternes to the modern, fresh dry styles of Sauvignon Blanc. By the end of the evening you will have discovered the quality and diversity of this famous region.
