Welcome to our seasonal series looking at pairing cheese and wine! Last up, specially for the winter, we have cheese and fortified wines...

Christmas is just around the corner and what better way to get yourself in the festive spirit than indulge in some warming, spicy wines paired perfectly with cheese? For many people, Port and cheese is the ultimate winter warmer, all that lovely fruity sweet wine partnered with tangy blue cheese is a timeless classic. Tonight we'll be indulging some other, often over-looked fortified wines which can pair just as well with cheesey delights! So, what better way to celebrate the first day of the Christmas season than with

  • Oloroso Sherry (beautifully toasty and nutty)
  • Sercial Madeira (like salted roasted nuts in a glass!)
  • Rutherglen Muscat (Christmas pudding in liquid form...)

And what to expect from the cheese? As always we'll be seeking the advice from our friends in local specialists such as Georgs and Joseph to ensure your wines will be partnered by the perfect cheeses...
