Laura's Ribera Del Duero Masterclass (Sheffield)
Wine School Owner Laura has travelled to the Spanish wine region of Ribera del Duero twice in the last two years to teach WSET Level 3 Award Courses. In between a busy teaching schedule she found time to fit in a trip or three to local wineries, often being shown around by students on her courses. Join Laura for a wine-tastic look at some of the best wines of the region, she'll guide you around Ribera del Duero with wines and stories to convince you these are some of today's finest Spainish reds.
When most people think of Spanish red wine there is only one name on their lips: Rioja. But Spain has always been more diverse than Rioja alone- we encourage people to explore the Garnachas of Priorat, the Monastrells of Jumilla and the Mencias of Bierzo. One other Spanish wine region lays claim to producing the finest examples of the Tempranillo grape; jostling alongside Rioja we have the relatively small and more artisanal region of Ribera del Duero.
Tonight's tasting will showcase some of Spain's greatest oak-aged Tempranillo red wines, more exclusive and more expensive than Rioja, it's not always easy to put together such a stellar line-up; but thanks to the support of the Consejo (wine authority) of Ribera del Duero, we are delighted to share these special wines with you.
Tonight's tasting is a must-attend for all fans of Rioja and other full-bodied, spicy reds, any fan of Spanish wines would be mad to miss out on tonight's event, and finally all wine adventurers who love discovering new regions should be joining the queue for this one.
The final list of wines will be confirmed in September, but they promise to be big hearty reds to warm the cockles on a cold winter evening; expect some very rare and expensive examples to be on show. We can't wait to share them with you!
