Gin, Glorious Gin!! (Sheffield)
Join us as we explore and celebrate the wonderful world of Gin... Every time you go to the shops there seems to be another Gin added to the selection, small boutique 'micro-distilleries' are popping up every week with a mind-boggling range of styles. Gins flavoured with fruits, foraged herbs, spices and all manner of exotic ingredients! On our Introduction to Gin we'll take you back to basics, learning about how Gin is made, a little of its history, and how different botanical ingredients effect the aroma and flavour of Gins around the world. We'll also explore how to fix the perfect G&T- there are plenty of tonic waters and garnishes to choose from now, it's got a whole lot more exotic than Schweppes and a slice of lemon!
We love Gin at Yorkshire Wine School; we even run professional level Spirits Courses from the WSET, training staff of Slingsby Gin and the Gin Festival. Tonight's tasting will utilise our expertise, teaching you a whole lot more about your favourite tipple whilst having plenty of fun at the same time. We'll taste 6 different Gins, comparing and contrasting different styles- London Dry vs Plymouth, UK vs USA Gin, inexpensive simple Gin vs premium boutique Gin, by the end of the evening you'll be a Gin Genius- able to tell the difference between all of these!
Included in the evening:
- Tutored tasting of 6 Gins- we'll taste all 6 on their own and again with tonic.
- How is Gin made?
- Botanicals aroma kit
- G&T workshop with different tonics and garnishes
- History of Gin
- What food can I pair with Gin?
So join us and a whole host of Gin enthusiasts as we discover how to squeeze even more enjoyment out of your favourite tipple!
