Saturday Masterclass: Alsace with YWS's Laura (Leeds)
Join us for a never-to-be-repeated YWS Masterclass exploring the diversity of Alsace wine. In the summer of 2017 Laura and Simon travelled to Alsace and painstakingly planned a tasting inspired by the incredible wines they tasted there. For lovers of Alsace wines, for those who enjoy fragrant whites, for anyone who likes wines which sing with fresh fruit, for those who want to get under the skin of France's criminally overlooked wine region- THIS is the tasting for you!
In a bid to explore this incredible region- with influence from both France and Germany- we need a two-pronged tasting; the first 6 wines will focus on the myriad of different grape varieties which are grown in Alsace. Between 11 am and lunchtime we shall taste beautiful sparkling Chardonnay, bright and bouncy Pinot Noir, succulent Pinot Gris, opulent Gewurztraminer and mineral filled Pinot Blanc.
After a beautiful 2-course lunch, we shall resume our tasting; the afternoon will focus on an in-depth exploration of Riesling. The final 6 wines will be a dazzling array of Riesling; sweet, dry, young, mature, Grand Cru, Old Vine we will explore it all.
We loved selecting these wines for Wine-Schoolers and we can't wait to share them. Please book quickly if you would like a place because this is definitely going to sell out (and we only have a couple of bottles of each wine!)...
