Magnum Masterclass: Is Bigger Always Better?
Welcome to the latest in our ongoing series of YWS Masterclasses- the perfect evening for all you budding wine experts and Wine School regulars- where we taste the finest wines known to humanity and enjoy a chance to indulge in some of the more technical themes which wine has to offer. Our Magnum Masterclass will enjoy the vexing, but frankly delicious, question about whether wine develops differently in larger (and indeed smaller) bottle sizes. We'll consider some of the science behind this question and seek to understand the ageing process just that little bit better.
But our tasting won't all be about theory (of course not!), we've lined up some stunning examples of wines bottled in magnum to allow us to explore different wine styles, at different stages of development. Already confirmed on the tasting list tonight are the following magnums:
- Pirathon Shiraz, Barossa, 2012
- La Tunella Pinot Grigio, Friulli, 2017
- 1er Cru Grower Champagne
- Top Bodega Ribera del Duero
And the rest we are working on....!!
We sold more than 1/4 of the places on this tasting before it even went online, our Masterclasses are amongst our most popular events with more experienced wine tasters as they offer you the chance to explore rare and fascinating wines. As ever, we can't wait to share the spoils of the Wine School cellar with you all!
