Saturday Masterclass: Undiscovered Spain with Mike Taylor (Leeds)
Sign up now to enjoy our latest Saturday Masterclass, and this is one exploring a country which is a favourite for many Wine Schoolers, welcome to Undiscovered Spain! To act as our guide and host, we are delighted to welcome fellow Spanish wine fanatic, Master of Wine student, and friend of the Wine School, Mike Taylor. Since completing his WSET Diploma, Mike has been working for specialist Spanish wine importer Moreno, where he has unearthed some incredible gems which we have enjoyed at the Wine School including our current favourite orange wine- the delicious Phinca Hapa! Mike's passion is the overlooked and oft-missed regions of Spain, so forget about Rioja and Ribera, Mike is here to show you there is so much more to Spain than those giants of Tempranillo. Prepare to have your tastebuds tantalised with wines from Bierzo, Rias Biaxas, Jumilla and many more...
Over the years we have enjoyed some splendid Spanish wines here at YWS, especially benefiting from Laura's regular trips to Rioja and Ribera del Duero. But todays tasting will broaden your Spanish horizons, get ready to enjoy something a little different; from historical oddities like Mencia, the treasured ancient Garnacha vines of Calatayud, to the diversity of international varieties in Catalunya, there is so much to explore in Undiscovered Spain!
Our Saturday Masterclasses are ideal for experienced wine tasters, and are the perfect follow on to our WSET qualifications, they are a much enjoyed addition to our programme for our regular wine school tasters. They are ideal for anyone who has travelled in Spain or someone with a particular interest in the region. Our Masterclasses seek to shine a light on wines or regions which are often overlooked on more general introductory wine courses.
All Saturday Masterclasses include lunch as well as at least 12 wines to taste over the day.
