Battle of the Bao: Grape vs Grain! The Rematch!
Since we launched Battle of the Bao a year ago, it has rapidly become one of our most eagerly awaited and popular tasting formats! YWS vs North Brew Co, wine vs beer, grape vs grain and a backdrop of delicious bao buns supplied by the team at Little Bao Boy. We've had great fun with this format, especially because wine has won out! Persuading beer and wine lovers alike that the best match with the spicy Asian flavours of the bao has been a challenge, but we've done it! So now it's time to shake things up a bit...
The original Battle of the Bao format saw YWS match three bao buns to three wines, and North Brew Co design matches to the same bao buns using beer. Somewhat surprisingly, wine has been the almost undisputed winner on these evenings, which has got many a beer lover stumped! So, in a move to make things interesting we are swtching the sides! Laura and team YWS will be matching the bao with beer tonight, whilst Dan and the North Brew Co team will be picking the wine pairings. If you are one of the more than 100 people who have attended the original Battle of the Bao format, you have to come back and watch the competition as we switch roles!
If you haven't managed to come to the 'original' Battle of the Bao (with Laura on wine and Dan and North Brew Co on beer) we have one more evening in the diary, but it's selling fast!
The IDEAL Christmas gift for the beer/wine/bao lover in your life! This evening is always a great deal of fun and just a little bit raucous, it's perfect for those of you who like your tastings with plenty of action and plenty of laughs! We take over the North Brew Co taproom for the evening so we can enjoy all the fun in one of our favourite bars in the city!
Please note: this tasting takes place at the North Brewing Tap Room on Sovereign Square and not at the usual Leeds Wine School venue- ideally situated for the train station!
